Using Translation

The County of San Mateo has added a translation feature developed by Google Translate to assist web visitors in understanding information on this website in a variety of foreign languages. Please be aware that Google Translate, a free third party service which the County does not control, provides automated computer translations that may not give you an exact translation. The County cannot guarantee the accuracy of translations through Google Translate so translations should not be considered exact and only used as a rough guide. Anyone relying on information obtained from Google Translate does so at his or her own risk. The County disclaims and will not accept any liability for damages or losses of any kind caused by the use of the Google Translate feature.

Free Program Explains How to Save Energy, Water and Money

Five experts will describe numerous ways to save money and make your home more energy and water efficient at a program on Wednesday, October 3, presented by the Citizens Environmental Council of Burlingame. Called “Save Energy, Water and Money,” the program will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lane Room at the Burlingame Public Library, 480 Primrose Road, Burlingame. Admission is free, refreshments will be provided and all those attending will be invited to take home complimentary energy- and water-saving devices.

 

Andrea Pappajohn, Sustainability and Climate Management Fellow for the City of Burlingame, will moderate the program, which features:

 

  • Rachael Londer of San Mateo County’s Sustainability Department, who will describe local energy-saving programs, including Home Upgrade, which helps homeowners receive rebates for energy-efficient upgrades. She’ll also share a library toolkit for saving energy and water.
  • TJ Carter of Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE), the county community choice energy program, who will describe how PCE’s local ownership helps residents and businesses save money and invest in clean, renewable energy projects.
  • Christina Armor of SunShares, a residential solar group purchase program (bulk buy) that makes installing solar on your home simple and affordable.
  • James Tuleya of HomeIntel, a no-cost program that customizes a plan for homeowners and renters to reduce energy waste and coaches them to average energy use savings of more than 10 percent. Attendees are encouraged to bring their PG&E bill or account number for an instant analysis. The first 25 attendees who register for the program by the end of the day will receive a free smart power strip worth $30.
  • Jennifer Lee of the City of Burlingame, who will describe rebates and discounts that the city offers to homeowners and tenants who install appliances or plumbing devices that save water or energy.

The speakers will answer questions and be available for individual consultations after their presentations.
